Mental health care after domestic trauma

Empowered People & Co

About Us
Empowered People & Co was founded on the belief that real change begins when people feel seen, heard, and supported, not judged, labelled, or lost in the system.

Our Story
After years of working in crisis care, refuge systems, and the prison system, our founder saw firsthand how trauma, crime, and systemic failure ripple through lives and communities. She developed a deep passion for working with people who live with complex trauma and complex stories, often the ones traditional systems are least equipped to hold.

But over time, it became clear that meaningful change couldn’t happen from within the system alone. Watching clients fall through the cracks and being unable to shape programs that truly made a difference, she decided to build something new. Empowered People & Co was born: a psychology-led, purpose-driven service designed to do things differently, with heart, with intention, and with people at the centre.

Our Values & Vision
We are committed to trauma-informed, inclusive, and evidence-based care. But more than that, we’re building a service that is responsive, compassionate, and grounded in real-world needs. We walk beside:

  • Survivors of trauma and abuse, offering safety, validation, and tools for healing
  • People of all abilities and their families, supported by both clinical expertise and lived experience
  • Those who have caused harm, with a focus on rehabilitation, accountability, and long-term growth
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, with culturally respectful, community-led approaches to healing and empowerment
  • Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) communities, navigating systemic challenges with strength and resilience
  • Children, carers, and families, through early intervention, psychoeducation, and capacity-building
  • Those who are hard to engage or who feel like they don’t fit the system, because we believe that support should meet people where they are

More Than a Clinic
Empowered People & Co offers therapy, diagnosis, and assessment, but we are more than a clinic. We’re building wraparound services designed to create lasting change, including:

  • Advocacy and tailored support staff

  • Therapeutic books and emotional regulation kits

  • Education programs for children, individuals, and families

  • Support groups and peer mentoring

  • Post-incarceration and reintegration programs

  • Culturally-specific initiatives for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients

  • And soon, training and resources for professionals in justice, forensic, and community care sectors

Our Ongoing Mission

Our work doesn’t stop at assessment, diagnosis, or treatment, we want to be part of the solution. We may just be getting started, but our vision is big. As we continue to grow, we’re laying the foundations for long-term projects that challenge systems, empower communities, and drive meaningful, lasting change, creating a positive impact where it’s needed most.

  • We’re committed to asking the bigger questions:

  • How can we prevent further harm? How can we challenge systems that fail the most vulnerable? How can we create safer, more supportive communities?

  • And most importantly:

  • How can we empower our clients—not just to survive, but to rise?
