Autism Assessments (ASD)

Safe space for mental health support and self-care

At Empowered People & Co, our autism assessments are built on a foundation of compassion, curiosity, and clinical best practice. We take a neurodiversity-affirming, trauma-informed approach that recognises the broad spectrum of autistic experiences across age, gender, culture, and ability.

Each assessment is tailored to the individual, offering clarity, support, and a path forward for families, educators, and support systems.

Who It’s For

An autism assessment may be helpful for:

  • Children displaying social, sensory, or behavioural differences

  • Teens or adults seeking a later-in-life diagnosis or self-understanding

  • Women, girls, or gender-diverse people whose traits may be masked or misinterpreted

  • Individuals with complex or overlapping needs (e.g. trauma, ADHD, intellectual disability)

  • Families looking to access support through school, therapy, or the NDIS

What It Involves

Our gold-standard autism assessments may include:

  • Clinical interview with caregivers or clients using the Autism Diagnostic Interview–Revised (ADI-R)

  • Autism-specific diagnostic tools and screeners tailored to the individual’s profile

  • Direct observation using the Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule – Second Edition (ADOS-2)

  • Cognitive assessment (e.g. WISC-V, WAIS-IV, or Leiter-3)

  • Academic achievement testing (e.g. WIAT-III), if relevant

  • Adaptive behaviour assessment (e.g. Vineland-3)

  • Functional assessments across school, home, or community environments

  • Differential diagnosis and screening for co-occurring conditions like ADHD, trauma, or intellectual disability

We also gather insights from teachers, therapists, or support staff where helpful, creating a 360-degree view of the person’s experience.

What You Receive

  • A comprehensive, trauma-informed report with diagnostic outcomes, meaningful insights, and actionable recommendations

  • Reports tailored to meet the needs of NDIS applications, school adjustments, therapeutic care, or medical planning

  • An optional follow-up session to explain results, plan next steps, or provide advocacy support

How We Work

We honour diverse neurotypes and lived experiences. Our assessments are:

  • Collaborative and respectful

  • Sensitive to masking and camouflaging traits, especially in women, girls, and gender-diverse individuals

  • Strengths-based, with practical recommendations designed to support real-world functioning and emotional wellbeing

Our goal is not just clarity, but empowerment. We walk beside you in building understanding, access, and lasting support.
